Description
A stunning Tressemann & Vogt, Limoges, tea cup & saucer dating to the 1890's retailed by Overton Brothers. The cup is 2 1/8" tall & 3 5/8" in diameter; the saucer is 5 1/2" in diameter.The cup is very finely potted and of an unusual & attractive shape. From about 3/4" from the base where it is 2" in diameter the cup is flared out & fluted to its full diameter. Both internally & externally there are four panels of hand-painted flowers. Externally the maroon base color has a twisted leaf & flower motif situated between each floral pattern. The saucer is similarly decorated with an additional spray of flowers in the center. Both pieces are profusely gilded. Both cup & saucer are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some minor wear to the gilding on the handle.
