When Charles Field Haviland retired in 1881 the company known as Gerard, Dufraisseix, and Morel assumed responsibility for the operation of the company. By 1886 Edgar Abbot joined the company and by 1900 the company became known as Gerard, Dufraisseix, and Abbot, or GDA.

The chocolate pot and matching lid both carry an embossed patterning in the porcelain and then have been decorated with pink English garden roses and vining foliage. Moriage beading with hand painted gold gilt decorates the circumference of the lid as well as the circumference of the rim itself. The lower edges of the chocolate pot are also decorated with patterned gold gilt trim; the handle of the chocolate pot is also embellished with gold gilt. The matching lid carries a ring style handle with gold gilt embellishment. The underside of the chocolate pot carries the GDA underglaze marks.
