    Description

Here is an excellent condition, 2003 Manuel Contreras II Double Top Alto Classical Guitar.
This is a highest level professional concert grade Alto guitar. It was made in the Contreras workshop in Madrid, Spain. The guitar was hand-built by Manuel Contreras Jr. and is signed by him.
This particular guitar is one of the rarest instruments built by Contreras, as it is an Alto Double Top with a cutaway. The concept of a double top guitar was developed by Manuel Contreras Sr. It actually refers to a double Tapa, which is a spruce lining on the inside back of the guitar. The second "top" is placed directly in front of the guitar back. This changes sound reflection, while decreasing absorption of sound from the player's body. The result of this is a more balanced sound.
The interior finish work is very refined, with a smoothly sanded heel and braces.
The overall condition of this guitar is excellent with almost no blemishes in the finish from playing.
This hand crafted guitar was built using solid Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides, a mahogany neck and a solid spruce top. The binding and headstock cap are made using the finest Brazilian rosewood. All of this adds up to one of the greatest looking classical guitars I have ever owned. The guitar has a beautiful Contreras signature rosette with matching bridge reinforcement. This Contreras design is considered to be his finest work of classical guitar craftsmanship.
This guitar has no cracks in the back, sides or top woods whatsoever. The finish is completely original.
Scale length on this guitar is 530 millimeters. Nut width is 51 millimeters.
The ebony fretboard and frets are in excellent condition. Action on the 12th fret low E string is 4.0 millimeters and the 12th fret high E string measures 3.0 millimeters.
This guitar comes equipped with the original high ratio engraved Fustero tuning keys. They are smooth, with outstanding precision.
The original label is in perfect condition and is signed by Manuel Contreras Jr.
The guitar will be carefully packed and shipped in its excellent condition original hardshell case, inside a sturdy box.
